MOM:
Face MEA, Must be Trained Worker Skills
on 27 Feb 2016 at 22:01 WIB
Liputan6.com, Bogor
- Labour Minister M. Hanif Dhakiri said workers in Indonesia do not have to
worry about in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
Because foreign
workers who enter must have competence in accordance with the position offered.
According to him,
there is an incorrect assumption about the MEA, mainly related issue would be
the rise of foreign workers who entered Indonesia after the entry into force of
the MEA. So the government should control foreign
labor.
"Many thought
HE was as if workers from outside the country against each other. Yet it
was not that, "Hanif said after attending the Great Council of Trade
Unions of Panasonic in Bogor, Saturday (02/27/2016).
In the face of the
MEA, said Hanif, how to encourage the Indonesian human resources able to
compete with foreign workers.
"The principle
that should be held is the cooperation and competition of
competitiveness," he said.
However, to create
a reliable workforce, has the intellectual abilities and skills, should be a
synergy between the central government and local governments.
"70 percent of
Indonesian workers graduate from high school. To be able to compete with
foreign labor should be increased intekektual abilities and skills through
professional training," he said.
Hanif explained,
when the MEA is feared it will many professionals from within the country
choose to work as foreign workers.
"If the higher
level of welfare, they could choose to work outside," he concluded.

Competition MEA, Government Need to Lower Energy Prices
on 03 Jan 2016 at 13:20 WIB
Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Indonesia has entered a new phase in the economic system,
namely the implementation of open competition in the ASEAN Economic Community ( AEC ) in early 2016.
To be able to win the era of open competition, the government should support the domestic industry .
One way you can do is to lower energy prices.
Chairman of Commission VII of the House of Representatives, Kardaya Warnika said , Indonesia is one
country with a fairly high energy prices.
Therefore, the government should look in the mirror of energy prices in some neighboring
countries.
"Prices in the country must be compared with countries outside the entrance and
if you want to win in the MEA, " said Kardaya , when talking with Liputan6.com,
in Jakarta , Sunday ( 01/03/2016 ) .
Kardaya added , energy prices is one factor the winner of the competition. Prospective
investors will select which country the cheapest energy prices. Because the price of
energy for the largest share in the cost of production.
If unable to compete , then there is no investor interest in Indonesia , so it will onlybe
a market. "If they ( investors ) will be looking for a cheaper price of energy , " said Kardaya.
According Kardaya, Parliament will certainly support , including if the government plans to
lower energy prices. Because, besides being the deciding factor MEA victory ,
the decline in energy prices also improvethe welfare of the people.
" Very supportive if there is a decrease in energy prices. If our electricity tariff cost , fuel cost,
the people mustbe happy, growth will be the way. So energy should not be seen from
the profitand loss bisbis course, must also be seen from the economic needs and matches
with neighboring countries as well , " he concluded.
Challenges MEA
Economist Faisal Basri said , the biggest challenge for Indonesia is to attract as much foreign
direct investment. Not only to make Indonesia as a target market alone, but chose Indonesia
as a production base for regional and global markets.
So far somewhat scattered Indonesia , Vietnam and Malaysia preferred by world-class
manufacturers. Later, Vietnam became the new prima donna. Perhaps Myanmar will follow.
Indonesia should not be fixated on the concept of a commodity. The advantages of the three
countries mentioned earlier is the ability to adapt to the global supply chain system.
The three countries in order to prepare the supporting infrastructure ogled by the
manufacturer parts and components. So , who are targeted are the flagship activity,
not a superior product.
In the era of the MEA, the main threat is not a flood of imports from ASEAN, as the era
of the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) has long been realized.
"Durian Bangkok has long been flooded Indonesia. Product drinks from
Malaysia was rampant. By contrast, Indonesia has the opportunity
to market a variety of fruits and vegetables. The key is the improvement
of post-harvest and logistical support. "
If you want to gain serious benefits (benefit) is greater, inevitably Indonesia must strengthen
industrializationso that the portion of the manufactured products exports were up significantly.
Only by increasing manufacturing exports, Indonesia can enjoy additional gains from trade
than the increase in intra-industry trade.
However, because the biggest market in ASEAN-Indonesia two-fold greater than Thailand's
second-potential beneficiaries could be reached Indonesia was relatively small.
"With these considerations, Indonesia should encourage ASEAN expand the range of
cooperation with countries bigger market. With ASEAN have entered China through the
ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA)," he concluded. (Pew / Gdn)
